Laura of Arabia

We've been working on ways to beat the mosquitoes and spend some time on the deck... gazebo...

Randall had the idea of putting a tarp around the sides- a sun screen, if you will.

We went out and about, exploring the idea, and came up with sheer drapery panels.

He got them put up in the evening, at the twilight of the day, and with the little fairy lights around the top, and the little candle lantern we hung from the centre beam, they made a very pretty picture indeed.

The children think it looks... well, I won't repeat what they said, but I quite like it.

It makes me think of something out of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, those sheer fabrics blowing in the breeze... all we need is a Turkish rug on the floor, and a mess of huge, plump, satin pillows in shades of purple and gold.
