'Tis that grand old day
That those of us who may or may not have a wee drop o' Irish blood in our veins
Put on as good a fake brogue as ever we may,
Crank up the jigs and reels,
And do all things Irish.
Here's wishin' you and yours a blessed St. Patricks Day.
May the blessing of light be on you—
light without and light within.
May the blessed sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart
till it glows like a great peat fire.
"An' th' rest o' th' daay ta yerself", LaurO'Lea. (Which is what me dear muther would ever say ta' us all, as an Irish reply to "top o' th' mornin' to ya".
ReplyDeleteI've got me green on taday, wi' shamrock earings n' all....but alas, there'll be no green potatas' nor anythin' else green in our house taday, exceptin' mubay a wee bit o' whiskey.....God bless me dear "born in County Down" grandmuther, Maude Riddle, as Irish a lass that ever could be..........
they don't celebrate that day here. maybe because it's switzerland and was settled by the germans, french and italian...the irish are a little ways away.
ReplyDeletebut I hope you enjoy your high holy day anyway.
