FINALLY!
I haven't been to the Pottery Studio since June. I kept meaning to get there, but just didn't seem able to swing it.
This morning I got Thomas to drop me off on his way to school, and spent 3 hours pounding and rolling and building.
I've had an idea for a teapot simmering in my brain for a few months, and I was able to give that a try. The first effort became the palette for a new cookie press. The second effort is going better and holds promise. I also rolled, trimmed and painted a cross from the "101 Celtic Crosses" book I got in Iona.
And Thomas is making a box-top type cover in wood shop for me. There's a heavy old desk that's been kicking around since Johanna dragged it home several years ago, and Thomas is making the "lid" for it, and will cover it in some canvas I had. It will, hopefully, just slip over the desk top giving me a clay proof working surface in the basement. I'm looking forward to that immensely- to be a Potter- putter and take advantage of the shorter bits of time that present themselves during the day.
I'm going to try really hard to make Wednesday morning a pottery studio habit, but if I can do my hand building at home, it will help a lot.
And the new dryer should be ready for pickup this afternoon. So, I should go get other things done before I have to start catching up on the laundry.
