It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time

So, for the past several years, I've had a pair of "Thinsulate" short boots.

For the first half of the first  year they were great.

Then they started to let moisture and cold in.

At the end of the first year I said to myself, Self- you need to get better boots for next year.

Then I put them away in the storage cupboard and proceeded to forget all about them.

Until it got cold and snowy again.

And, since I hadn't bought new boots yet, and these were only a year old, I pulled them out of the cupboard and wore them another winter.

And they were a little less warm than the year before.

At the end of that winter?

Back in the cupboard.

Last year was, I think, the third winter with these boots, and at the end of it, I said to myself, SELF, if you put these things back in the cupboard, you will not get better boots next year. Throw them out.

So I listened to myself and out they went.

Cue the snow.

Cue the howling winds.

Cue the foot and a half drifts and snowbanks.

And guess who hasn't been on the ball, who hasn't been to the mall, who thankfully hasn't had a fall... And ALL

Because I haven't got the new boots yet.

I may have to brave the temperatures tonight and go out to find some warm, wooly footwear, because I know I'll have some walking to do tomorrow, and those running shoes, although great, don't quite have what it takes for this weather.

Winter in Saskatchewan.

You gotta love it.

Or not.
