Nice Place To Visit, But I Wouldn't Want To Live There

I had a GREAT time in Chicago.

The first night we took in the free concert in the park and awesome fireworks.

Sunday was Randall's graduation. He shook a hand and received a certificate; we went to a friend of a friend's for an amazing  lunch and chilled (as much as it was possible in all that heat and humidity!)

We did an Architectural  river boat tour, ate Chicago Style Pizza and a Chicago Hot Dog, and walked and walked and walked. Got some sun, did an evening of Jazz at Andy's, toured through Macy's/ Marshall Fields, had an incredible steak supper at another friends', did a little shopping and generally saw the sights.

And really, for the record, it wasn't as humid as I thought it would be. Hot, yes. Humid, yes. But tolerable. Especially with a bit of air conditioning, a few fans and some cold drinks.

The trip home was a bit of a botch-up. Frustrating delays that caused us to miss our connecting flight... (and after a bit of googling, I now know that the plane which was holding us up was coming from Molina, Colorado) But, after a short and unexpected stopover in Winnipeg, we were reshuffled to the first flight out this morning, and were finally here by 1:00.

Yeah.

A really good week, but it's good to be home.

And the boys didn't kill each other or burn down the house. They didn't pick the raspberries, either... so that's where I'm going now, as soon as I get the second load of laundry on the line.

I guess you can get away from it all, but it will still be there when you get back...
