And Then Came Summer

Not sure I'm a fan.

Of summer, per se.

I like that I don't have to put on shoes or a coat to step outside.

I like that the windows can be open and that there are birds out there to be singing.

I like the colour green.

But

I don't like HEAT.

Well, heat in it's place is fine- at a lake or by the ocean. When one doesn't have to think, generally, because one is vacationing, or sitting at the end of a pier relaxing.

But when one is stuck at home with no large body of cooling water by which to sit or in which to paddle one's feet, HEAT is not nice.

Anything over 25*C when thinking and chores and cooking are required is not good.

And if there's any sort of humidity involved, well, that's the limit.

As soon as it gets hot and humid I'm finished.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

It's alright.

I'll be fine.

I just need the breeze to change directions again, and the sun to move west a little more...

At least I'm not baking cookies today.

  1. You could always run a bathtub of cold water and dangle your feet in. Or if you get too hot, just hop in entirely. Or set up a sprinkler outside and run through. That's what we did when I was a kid :)
