Just So You Don't Forget Me

Now, I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose, but I'll have a few things to say to #1 Son when he gets back from his camping trip.

I will say that he's very lucky that I was getting up this morning anyway, but still, to hear his alarm beeping merrily away at 7:00 this morning was, to say the least..... alarming!

His brother, who sleeps next door, heard the beeping, but was able to ignore it and go back to sleep.

If I remain positive, I remind myself that he's a responsible 15 yr. old, and I don't usually have to go pull his toes to get him out of bed in the morning. This is a good thing. We went through a phase where children were saying, "wake me up at..." and if I forgot, or did it 5 minutes too late, there was blame and accusation. It was constantly my fault that they were going to be late... Then on days that they didn't want to get up, I'd have them totally indignant and irritated because I DID remember to wake them up... I really couldn't win. They all got an alarm clock that year for Christmas.

So, they've learned to use their alarm clocks, and they're all responsible for getting themselves up when they want to get up.

But really- one should remember to turn one's alarm clock off before going away for the weekend. I think he is very fortunate that the clock was sitting very visibly on the floor beside his bed, so when I went chasing after it in my pajamas I was able to get that annoying beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep...beep... turned off.

I think his father has talked me out of it, but I was considering securing several extra alarm clocks, setting them to go off at rude times, and leaving them hidden under things in his room for tomorrow night so that he could share that particular joy!

It's alright. I'll play nice.
