A Loaf Of Bread,

A container of milk, and a stick of butter.

A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter.

(Of course, the little boy said, "stick a butta".)

Does anyone else remember that bit from Sesame Street?

He recites this litany to himself all the way to the store... a loaf a bread, a container a milk, and a stick a butta.

When he gets to the store he remembers the loaf of bread and container of milk, but he can't remember the last thing til a Butterfly flits past the open door.

He carries his purchases home and bursts in, triumphantly shouting, "Mommy, Mommy! I remembered! A loaf a bread, a container a milk and a stick a butta!"

What triggered that memory this morning?

Micah walking out the door to school, after being given copious instructions, muttering to himself, "A large, white, oval serving plate from the kitchen. A large, white, oval serving plate from the kitchen. A large, white, oval serving plate from the kitchen."

I hope he remembers!

  3. I LOVE that one. It always got me every time! I always thought that poor little guy would never remember the stickabutta. But everytime, he did. And his mom was so pleased. Another favourite Sesame Street memory is: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve LADYBUGS...at the ladybugs picnic!!! And, hey, while we're remniniscing, how about the perogy factory caption with the high pitched soprano, "Pe-e-e-e-rogy, etc.etc." sigh. thanks for the memories, Bob McGrath.
