Nothing New Under The Sun

Sixteen years ago today I was delivered of my third baby.

A boy to follow two girls.

He towers above me now.

Hard to believe he was once only 8 pounds and 8 ounces.

Hard to believe.

He's out on the town with the youth group tonight. It happens to be their regular Worship night, so I baked a cake and sent it along for the event. He'll probably be out late, since there's no school now til... my birthday, but I think I'm going to hit the sack pretty soon.

I feel totally tired... not unlike I probably did sixteen years ago at this time of the day! I feel almost as worn out and sore, although his birth was a little easier than the girls', being a "planned" C- Section, where theirs were "emergency" and "last minute decision" C-Sections.

Hey, maybe I should toddle over to the hospital and see if I can get an anniversary shot of Demerol, just for old times sake! Ah... the first Demerol high after coming out of the anesthesia...

Happy Birthday, Thomas. I love you. Good luck with that whole License thing. Thanks for laughing at my jokes most of the time... for usually getting them. You're a good kid, and I appreciate you. Just quit beating up your brother and making him cry.

Take tomorrow off or something.

I'll try not to drop anything on the kitchen floor in the morning so you can sleep in.
