Monday, Monday

I filled out the "Patient Questionnaire" for the hospital admissions people. That was as much brain work as I need for today! Honestly, they ask things like, "have you experienced: diarrhea, constipation, headaches, sore or aching joints, insomnia or trouble sleeping..." I mean- I'm almost 45 and have had 4 children! It would be nice if they asked "Have you EVER" or "Have you, within the past month,". But the older one gets the less likely it is you've NEVER experienced these things.

Oh, well.  It's done.

Now all that's left is to pick up the lab/ X-ray/ ECG results from the Doctor's office today, and get to my pre-surgery chiropractic appointment tomorrow. I didn't know it would be a pre-surgery appointment when I made it, but it's perfect timing.

Hmm... what else.

I'm half regretting that I promised my friend to "take it easy" and do nothing for 10 days after the surgery. Hopefully I'll be well and truly bored by the end of it, and not thinking I could use another 10. This means I'll have to miss the pot luck at church on Sunday (which, to be honest, I wasn't sure I'd feel up to anyway) as well as all the "Staff Appreciation" festivities at Micah's school next week.  I hope someone else is able to take charge of the Valentine Grandparents' Tea on the 14th.  Ah, the joy.

On some levels I'm a little afraid, but on other levels I think I might not be afraid enough. I'm still more worried about my voice than anything, but I have full confidence in the Surgeon.  I tend to get freaked about the little things, like getting the I.V. put in, and  being sick from the anesthesia. Especially as everything that goes down or comes up will have to get past my throat, and I have a feeling that will be quite tender for awhile. I'll let you know what time on Thursday the surgery will be, but otherwise I'm going to put it out of my mind and not think or talk about it.

For now, I should go wash up from last night and this morning.  I also need to cut out another section of wedding dress skirt. Good thing there is a lot of fabric left. I only cut 2 "back and front side section"s. I should have cut 4 ...

Onward and upward.

  1. You'll be in my prayers. Speaking of wedding dresses, I sewed one on commission once for a woman (big skirt with crinoline, sleeveless with boning) who, the day before the wedding, came for the final fitting and announced proudly that she had lost 10 lbs over the past week. Arrrgh!

  2. Jerk! This is why I'm not sewing the thing together until the week she's home... the week before the wedding...

I'm just aiming to get the skirt sewn up and hemmed (any shortening will have to be done at the waist) and the bodice complete (sans zipper or buttons) and the bodice lining complete... picking out seams and sewing them back up again is worse than just leaving it to the last minute, as far as I'm concerned. I'm only a little nervous about the sleeves, because that part of the pattern is being changed. Ah, well! By then, she'll get what she gets and be happy with it!

    Or else.

  3. Well, you sound very sane about the health stuff to me - not so sure about the sanity levels as far as the wedding dress is concerned though !

  4. It takes a lot of courage to face surgery and the unknown. Will keep you in my thoughts.

    Praying for you.
