When I Woke Up This Morning, You Were On My Mind...

Well, not really.

When I woke up this morning it was a violent jump to consciousness. I don't think I even had the luxury of wondering why I was awake so suddenly, as my feet were instinctively seeking the floor even as my hand was involuntarily throwing back the blankets.

Then my brain kicked in, and interpreted the sounds my ear was broadcasting to it:

Puking.

In the basement.

Ah! That's why I was dashing full tilt down the stairs.

Poor boy.

He's been struggling with a sore throat and runny nose again for 2 days. He was even in bed by 10:00 last night, which is unusual for him.

So, the bus driver has been alerted, the gravol and sinus + acetaminophen drugs have been administered, the apple juice boxes have been cracked open,

And the boy's been tucked back into bed.

And, in the interest of self preservation,

I think that's what I'll be, as soon as I have a bit of breakfast with my morning diabetes meds.

Oh, the joy.

  1. Ah, I spent my Monday making homemade chicken noodle soup with fresh homemade buns for my Ben who suffered what your boy is suffering. The only difference is that Ben was sick during the night, and never bothered to wake us; just emptied his tummy in his garbage can and went back to sleep. Said he just "didn't want to wake us". He's only 7!!

  2. Funny how a mother's ears pick up sounds and trigger an instant response.
