Easter 2009

All done.

My favourite service is always the Maundy Thursday service, but I wasn't looking forward to the Good Friday service and I was a little nervous about Easter Sunday.

For the past 2 or 3 years I've been joining the Anglicans down the street for the liturgical Good Friday service, and I wasn't sure I'd like or get much out of the community service in Wetaskiwin this year. Plus Micah and I had to sit there for an hour before the service started, because Randall had to be there at 9:00 and things weren't scheduled to begin until 10:00...

But, turns out the Friday morning gathering was alright. It wasn't the Anglican service, but it wasn't too painful either.

: )

And Sunday turned out to be a really good day.

I knew it would be weird/different/strange... first time ever most of the kids weren't here... no big treasure hunt with rhyming clues... no big family dinner with a big turkey and all the trimmings...

But Sunday dawned bright, warm and clear. The Service was really good. We were invited out for a wonderful roast beef dinner, so I didn't have to come home to an empty house. (I was dreading that. I knew it would be depressing.) And then, to top off the day, my Aunt and Uncle from Grande Praire were passing through on a holiday trip and parked their trailer in our driveway for the night. It was really fun to catch up with them and show them our new digs.

So Easter 2009 is done and I made it through just fine.

Followed by a week of school vacation. (which = no 7:45 am bus = a bit of sleeping in)

A good weekend.

A good week ahead I think.

  1. For us, too a big change, but ok. probably the last year for finding eggs, however I really liked our new church's service. Yes, it was outside and at 6:30am (I thought I'd left the army) but when the pastor was quoting scripture and the sun (Son) washed over us it was awesome!
