Improving, But Still Not A Passing Grade

I went for my test results on Monday.

I don't know how I could have studied more, but even with all the effort I'm still falling short of the mark.

The ferritin needs to be at least "25"; after a year of iron therapy- at least 8 months of that being very aggressive, I've gone from "5" to "17".

Seven more to go.

I got a little pushy- (as pushy as I could ever be).

"Why is it like this?!" I asked.

He didn't know.

We've  ruled out internal bleeding/leakage, which leaves the other logical, blood losing possibility.

When I said, "This is ridiculous. It's been over a year! I'm really tired of being tired."

He agreed, (that it's ridiculous) and understood (the rest).

I have an appointment for another pelvic ultrasound followed by a visit to a specialist.

I'm assuming it's a gynecological specialist, but at that point it was so encouraging to be getting any kind of action on pinpointing the cause of this persistent anaemia that I really didn't care what kind of specialist it was.

So, who knows! Maybe by the end of January I'll have an idea of what's going on and if there's a way to fix it and get back to normal before we all completely forget that there ever was such a thing as non-fatigued normalcy.

ooohhh....

I need a nap.

  1. I hate to kick you when you're down, but if you're at 17, and you need to be at 25, you've got 8 more to go, not 7. :)

I think you need a steak, not a nap.

  2. (I'm sure the bad math comes from thinking "increase of 7 since my last blood test")

  4. I sure hope things start going the direction you need. I don't know how you are managing doing as much as you do being so tired!!
Keep resting when needed! Praying for ya!

  5. Keep pushing those doctors 'til they find out what it is. Hope something comes out of this visit to the specialist.

  6. Well, you are up some, not down. That's good news.

Hope they find where you are hiding all that iron.
