It Was A Good Night. It Was A Very Good Night.

Some folks go in for renting the church hall, and stocking up on silver tea services and picture frames.

We chose, rather than a large, noisy gathering, a quiet, intimate dinner for two.

At the Melting Pot.

A lovely, out of the way table in a remote corner.

A fantastic four course fondue- Swiss cheese fondue appetizer, Mandarin lettuce wraps, the Meat & veg course (complete with mushroom caps, broccoli, potatoes, tuna, sirloin, shrimp, chicken, pork loin, lobster & pot stickers), and the dark chocolate dessert fondue (... strawberry, banana & pineapple pieces, brownie, pound & cheese cake...) with a delightful German Riesling...

Absolutely wonderful.

The servers were so sweet- "Happy Anniversary" was written in chocolate on the dessert plate under the fruit and cake, and besides honouring the coupon Randall printed off the Internet (deducting the cost of dessert from the "Big Night Out" dinner special), the manager gave us an anniversary gift of 50% off the price of the wine.

I was happily surprised to find that by spreading a fondue meal out over two and  a half hours, I didn't get any nasty high blood sugar effects. The cheese & bread course was well through the system before it was hit with the dessert course. 

As we were waiting for the chocolate to come my wildly romantic husband said, "So. If I were to ask you to marry me all over again, would you still do it?"

As I answered, "Yes. I believe I would," he reached behind himself,  pulled out a Paris Jeweller's box, and presented me with a new engagement ring. An absolutely beautiful new ring to start the next 25 years of our life with. 

It hasn't always been easy- of course it hasn't. But as the years go by we agree that we honestly like each other better and better. It continues to surprise me (in good ways) how much we have in common; how similar our tastes are.

I find it hard to believe that more than half our life has been spent with each other. How can that be?! 

It is not  hard to believe, that as the years continue to go by, we can grow more deeply in love and more genuinely in like with each other.
