G I O R Sourengrate

So, after supper tonight, while Thomas was weaseling out of doing dishes and Hillary was standing around, having finished putting fridge things away,

Thomas hummed a few bars, and asked what that was the theme song for.

Recognizing an American classic, I immediately jumped in with:

(doing my best "Edith Bunker" impression)

"Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade.

Guys like us we had it made; Those were the days.

Didn't need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight..."

Then I stopped and said I never knew what the next line was...

I always heard something like... and I mumbled a few words that started with "GIO"

Wait! I said. I can look it up! The computer is on here...

"Gee our old LaSalle ran great"?!

Huh.

Now I know.

Those were, indeed the days!

  1. Heh....I always wondered what that line was too.

That could have been one of the things I needed to find out before the end of life, as I know it.

    Thanks!
