Strike One

A good sleep in morning.

And an inspirational breakfast.

"That cereal," I thought, as I regarded the bag on the counter, "Is fortified with iron. That's what I'll have."

And so I did.

And then, as I was putting the bowl in the sink, I remembered the little label on the iron tablets:

"DO NOT TAKE WITH ANTACIDS, EGGS, CEREALS, WHOLE GRAIN BREADS, DAIRY PRODUCTS, COFFEE OR TEA"

Because these things inhibit iron absorption.

And while the early dose of iron wouldn't be affected, I realized that eating iron fortified cereal with milk was maybe sort of oxymoronic... the benefit of the extra iron would likely be cancelled out by the fact that it was in cereal covered in dairy.

Oh, well.

Live and keep learning.

  1. Orange juice should be your new best friend. Vit C helps you absorb iron. :)
