The Times, They Are A-Changing

I felt positively "nesty" today.

I think it was the gray clouds and the autumnal chill in the air.

I found myself drinking copious amounts of tea, baking cookies and bread, and generally mucking about in the kitchen all day.

I'd've started the gas fire if the pilot light was lit... but Himself says not until next month. I'll wear him down. He used to be that way about Christmas music...

Yup. Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year. I still maintain that spring and autumn should each be four months long. Summer can have three, if mosquitoes are banned, and a snowy, freezy winter might be manageable for four weeks.

Too bad it's so lopsided the other way, with the lovely transitional seasons being just that- mere transition into the long buggy/cold seasons.

Ah, well.

They say a change is as good as a rest; autumn must be a restful season.

There will certainly be a lot of change in the next couple of months. Children moving to foreign countries, starting their last years of high school, changing jobs and generally growing up and out.

Bring on the autumn; apple sauce and rose hip jelly. Hot soup and fresh buns. Stew and biscuits. Pie and coffee. Cosy fires and mystery novels. Scrabble and tea.

Bring on the change.

To infinity and beyond.
