'Tis the day before the night before Christmas
And as of yesterday I am getting excited for the weekend.
It took six weeks and and three days, but Hillary's Christmas gift finally found her. The same day that the surprise package of Christmas cookies and candy was hand delivered by a Pastor friend from Edmonton.

All our gifts have been purchased, wrapped and posted or put under the tree. All. Done.

The turkey is in the freezer, and Christmas dinner is ready and waiting to be cooked and eaten on Sunday.

Thomas is coming home today after work; he has all weekend off and we get to keep him until Monday.

The plumi moos (Mennonite fruit soup) is bubbling away on the stove; one of my favourite holiday things. Tomorrow I'll cook up a batch of cinnamon buns for Christmas morning, some fluffy white buns for turkey sandwiches and some of my Grandma's rice pudding for Christmas Eve.

There will be no grand baby to follow around, and no daughters or sons-in-law to share in the family games and meals, but the face-to-face Internet visits will ease the pain of separation.
I feel ready for Jesus' birthday. I anticipate the Christmas Eve candlelight service and a weekend of quiet family time with our boys.

Merry Christmas to all of you. No fruit soup here this year. I don't need it and no one else really appreciates it. Your rice pudding is a little different than mine. Mine is a custard type and has a few spoons of lemon juice in it. I add the eggs after the rice has cooked in the milk and finish it in the oven for a few minutes.

Good news ! Family arrived here yesterday too, so we're ready for an Island Christmas with collaborative cooking and long walks on the beach scheduled - and church too !
