Click-Click.......Click-Click.....

First day of the Winter Break.

The kids get a week off... we're still not sure why, and we've lived here for 9 years.

Oh- a week plus a day, for the new Saskatchewan Government's Family Day next Monday.

So- it's the first day.

First sleep in day.

First take it easy day.

First "get up when you wake up" day.

And when do I wake up?!?

Just before 5:00.

AM!

And WHY do I wake up?!?

Because I heard a bad sound in the kitchen.

It was a quietly crashing sound.

Like something shifting in the dishrack.

The bad sound was followed by a series of  bad sounds.

Rather ONE bad sound repeated with irritating regularity.

Click.

Click-click.

Click-click..... click-click.....  click-click.....

It was The Boy- the oldest one, and he's been feeling a little stuffy in the nasal passages.

After some initial rummaging, he was attempting to open the cough syrup.

The cough syrup with the "push and turn", child-proof lid.

Children are a gift from God.... Children are a gift from God... Children are a gift from God...

  1. Love it Lauralea! We don't get a break until March (mind you, I'm flying off and leaving my family to fend for themselves for most of next week).

  2. February Break....It is for the Winter Festival of course!!

Of course now it seems that most of the really cool events aren't until later in the month. Bummer!

  3. A mother always hears. Isn't fair.

There may come a day when you sleep right through. It seems to have to do with the shouldering of responsibility for whatever the sound might be caused by. I can sleep through some of Leo's phone calls. I can sleep trough the kids coming in late - now. But if I have the monitor, I wake at the least whimper.

And men seem to sleep through all the noises we wake up for.

  4. There is certainly something in that; When I go to bed before Randall, I don't hear a thing. It's like, subconsciously, I know he'll take care of it because he's up. As soon as his head hits the pillow, my spidey senses start to tingle, and the next noise wakes me up. It's uncanny.
